Arm and Leg Lift

After excessive weight gain and loss, in advanced age due to decreased skin elasticity, or at earlier ages due to genetic predisposition, sagging and stretch marks can occur on the arms and legs.

Loosening and reduction of the subcutaneous supportive tissue in the arms and legs, as well as excessive and uneven accumulation of fat tissue, may create the need for surgery in these areas.

Arm and leg lift surgery allows you to have firmer, more youthful-looking arms and legs.

How is the surgery performed?
Excess and sagging skin and subcutaneous tissue are removed through appropriate incisions in suitable areas. The scars are hidden in inconspicuous places on the body. For arms, the scars are usually near the underarm or on the inner part of the arm, the least visible areas from the outside. For leg lifts, scars are hidden in the groin area, inner thigh, and under the buttock crease. Liposuction is often performed alongside arm lift surgery to further reduce subcutaneous fat and allow removal of more sagging skin.

Surgery duration
Under general anesthesia, arm lift surgery takes approximately 2–3 hours, while leg lift surgery takes around 2.5–4 hours.

Postoperative care
Mild pain is expected for a few days after surgery and is managed with painkillers. Swelling and a feeling of tightness in the arms and legs may occur initially. Elevating the hands and feet is recommended to reduce swelling. Patients are usually discharged after 1–2 days in the hospital.

Swelling and bruising may continue for several weeks. Patients can return to work within 7–10 days, but it is recommended to wear a suitable compression garment for a month. During this period, heavy exercise and overstretching of the arms and legs should be avoided.

Complete resolution of swelling and achieving the desired final appearance of the arms and legs typically occurs within 6 months to 1 year.
